Before you even begin, you will need:

 

-       a BANNER of type .gif or .jpg of 468x60 pixels for your new site

-       an ICON of type .jpg or .gif of 40x40 pixels

-       a DOMAIN NAME (eg. www.test.com) name purchased through a internet registrar like godaddy.com, netsol.com, register.com or any registrar of your choice.

 

The banner will be displayed on top of each new page, and the icon will be used to identify your promoters site on the IAPLA main charts.

 

 

1. Step 1: Log into the admin area.

 

Log in to the IAPLA ADMIN AREA:

2. Step 2: Check your status as promoter.

 

If you have not accepted the "Promoters Agreement", the "Promoters" flag will be unchecked.

 

To read and agree to this, click on the "Promoters Agreement" link:

3. Step 3: Accept the agreement

 

Read the agreement, the click on the "I ACCEPT the agreement" button. If you do not accept the agreement, you will not be able to create a promoter site, and will be returned to the admin area.

 

 

4. Step 4: Check status of acceptance of promoters agreement.

 

You will be returned to the ADMIN AREA, and you will see that the "Promoters Agreement" (4.1) flag is checked. You will also see a new link "Promoter Sites" (4.2). Click on the "Promoter Sites" link:

 

Once the promoters agreement is accepted, you are now "ready to go".

5. Step 5: Enter site creation screen.

 

You will now see an input screen with some default values which needs to be filled in.

 

 

 

6. Step 6

 

The fields will need to be filled in as follows:

6.1     Site domain URL: www.<url>.com

6.2     Type of promoter:

-       if you are not for profit, then select "Not for Profit". The artist will sell his music and CDs using his own PAYPAL account.

-       If you are a Label or Independent Label,  select "Label". You will sell the music and distribute payment to your artists.

6.3     Background Color: background color around all tables. Leav #FFFFFF (white) for now.

6.4     Text Color: The color of all text on the front page and charts. Leave #000000 (black) for now.

6.5     Link Color/Visited Link Color: The color of links on the front page and charts. Leave #0000FF (blue) for now

6.6     ICON: Path of you 40x40 pixel icon file.

6.7     Banner: Path of your 460x60 pixel banner.

6.8     Front page content: an announcement to display on the front page.

 

 

 

 

 

Click on the "Update" button.

 

You shall now see the site info and banner appear on the screen:

 

 

 

7. Step 7: DNS Settings

 

In this step, you will need to go to the administration area of your registrar from which you bought your domain (in our example www.test.com).

 

You have to assign the iapla name servers to this domain:

 

ns1.iapla.com

ns2.iapla.com

 

Change will become in effect within 48 hours, and it is possible that changes are effective sooner.

8. Check your site

 

Once the DNS changes are completely effective, you will be able to enter your site. You will find the charts are empty, until you get the first artist to join.

 

 

 

9. Step 9: Promote your site

 

You can now:

 

-       Invite friends by word-of-mouth to join IAPLA and sign up to your site.

-       Invite old mp3.com friends by email to join IAPLA and sign up to your site.

-       Email artists found on the IAPLA charts and invite them to join your community.

-       Submit your site to search engines.

 

10.       Step 10: Front Page features

 

You will now find the "Front Page" link under "Features" in the admin area:

 

 

Click on this link.

 

 

11.       Step 11: Upload a feature.

 

You will now see the following screen:

 

 

Fill the fields in as follows:

 

Band Id: the band url id when a band is created.

Start Date: Date of start of feature

Expiry Date: Last date of feature

Text: Text which will be displayed below picture.

Band Picture: Path of a picture to be displayed on the front page.

Pic Size: Select A pic size of:

-       1. 150px Width, to be displayed on top of the left column.

-       2. 254px Width, to be displayed in two features side by side, under the banner.

-       3. 554px Width, to be displayed in one column under the banner.

Feature Heading: A heading for the feature.

 

Several features can be loaded simultaneously, and will be rotated all the time.

 

 

Click on the "Save" button.

12.       Step 12: Make the feature active

 

You shall now see that the feature is displayed on the maintenance screen, but with the "Active" box unchecked:

 

 

 

Click on the "Active" box, and click on the "Update" button to activate the feature.

 

13.       Step 13: Look at the front page.

 

 

The feature will appear on the front page, and can be combined with other features.
